Biography

Hi, I’m a director who makes films. Whether they be narrative, documentary, dance, music video or commercial, and more, I bring a creative cinematic mindset to every project. My goal is to make films—either story-driven pieces or abstract works—that move audiences. Liked it or not, if my film remains in your thoughts after you watch it, then I’ve done my job.

Being a director comes with many challenges. It’s the opposite of a writer with a pen or a painter with a brush. Making a film alone is seldom an option. Directing is about coming up with ideas, bringing a group of talented people together, working with them as a team, and hoping that they can understand and deliver your vision. It’s never really only your vision, and that’s the beauty of it. What I’ve learned is that I have to be flexible. I need to have a plan, but be ready to adapt on any given day and trust my gut.

I strive to always be mindful of the idea of beauty. What constitutes something as beautiful? And how does it relate to the human condition? I find it necessary to include elements of the human condition and capture as much beauty as possible in my films. There is nothing more fascinating for me.

Currently, I am the Creative Video & Media Director of the Hong Kong Ballet.
